The largest city in Minnesota, Minneapolis is adjoined to St. Paul, the state's capital and second-largest city. Together Minneapolis and St. Paul form the core of the Twin Cities metropolitan area-the 14th-largest cluster in the country. Minneapolis is home to the Mall of America, and professional sports franchises such as the Vikings, Timberwolves, and Twins.
The award–winning Guthrie Theater is also located in Minneapolis. The region is second only to New York City in live theater per capita and is the third-largest theater market in the U.S. after New York and Chicago.
